Millwright/Machinist
This combined Millwright/Machinist Foundation program teaches the basics of both the Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) and Machinist trades. It prepares learners for entry-level positions as apprentices with manufacturing firms and resource development firms.
The activities of a Millwright/Machinist include maintenance, installation, and repair of stationary industrial equipment in factories, mills, mines, production plants, and recreational facilities. These skilled tradespeople also use lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other equipment to machine parts to accurate dimensions. Because they work in close association with Instrument Mechanics, Pipe-fitters, Welders, Electricians, and Heavy-Equipment Mechanics, they need to be team players.
